Huxe

2025 - 2026, 1 year old

A personal audio app from three of the people who built NotebookLM, which turned your inbox, your calendar, and the news into a podcast you could argue with.

Raiza Martin, Jason Spielman, and Stephen Hughes had worked on NotebookLM since its inception at Google, including the feature that turned a folder of documents into two synthetic hosts discussing it. In December 2024 they left to sell that trick as a company of their own. Huxe read a user's mail and calendar, followed the topics it had been told to follow, and returned a daily briefing performed by AI hosts who could be interrupted mid-sentence; it opened to everyone in September 2025 on 4.6 million dollars from Conviction, Genius Ventures, Dylan Field, and Jeff Dean. Then the commodity problem arrived in its purest form: Spotify, Adobe, Amazon, and Meta each shipped generated audio inside an app their users already had open, and a separate application for the same thing had nothing left to be. The founders pulled Huxe from both app stores in May 2026, left installed copies running for seven more days, and deleted the accounts behind them. The people who proved anyone would listen to two machines talk about their documents never found the version of it anybody would buy.
