Starsky Robotics

2016 - 2020, 4 years old

A self-driving truck startup that paired highway autonomy with remote human teleoperation for the first and last miles.

A planned $20M Series B fell through in November 2019, forcing Starsky to furlough most staff and try to sell the company before winding down. Co-founder Seltz-Axmacher blamed the collapse on a broader cooling toward AV bets, the high capital intensity of trucking, and supervised learning failing to deliver the reliability investors expected. No buyer materialized for the remote-piloting stack and the company shut down operations in March 2020.
