Cove

Stephen Chau, Andy Szybalski, and Mike Chu had built Google Maps features including Street View, and Chau and Szybalski went on to help launch Uber Eats, so when they started Cove in late 2023 the round was not a hard sell. The product was a bet against the chat transcript: rather than return a wall of text, Cove filled an infinite whiteboard with cards, tables, and lists you could pick up and rearrange, with a browser, PDFs, and images sitting alongside for context. Sequoia led six million dollars in 2024, with Elad Gil, Homebrew, Adverb, Scott Belsky, and Lenny Rachitsky in the round. What Cove never established was why the planning had to happen on a canvas, and while it looked for that answer the general-purpose assistants quietly absorbed the job. Microsoft hired the entire team in March 2026, the product closed on April 1, every account was deleted, and March subscriptions were refunded on the way out. Three engineers who spent their careers making information navigable proved that a better shape for an answer is not, on its own, a reason to open a second window.
